This mechanical shaft lock utilizes a tapered design; by tightening multiple clamping bolts, the tapered surfaces create a wedge effect that fully secures the shaft and hub together. Since the shaft and hub are joined by friction, this design overcomes the drawbacks of keyed connections. The flange allows for a smaller inner-to-outer diameter ratio between the shaft and hub, and the shaft lock is constructed of stainless steel.
