List of Fit Tolerances (Excerpt from JIS B 0401)
2026/05/07
[Scope of Application]
- JIS B 0401-1, titled "Geometric Specifications for Products—Fundamentals of Fitting," specifies ISO codes for dimensional tolerances applicable to dimensions related to the length of shapes (cylinders and two parallel planes lying opposite each other).
- JIS B 0401-2, titled "Geometric Specifications for Products—Tolerances for Holes and Shafts," specifies the tolerance values for commonly used tolerance classes for holes and shafts, calculated from the tables defined in JIS B 0401-1.
[Tolerance Class Specifications (Display Rules)]
- General Tolerance classes are indicated by a combination of lowercase letters for shafts and uppercase letters for holes, which specify the basic dimensional tolerances, along with a number representing the basic size tolerance grade. [Example] H7 (hole), h7 (shaft)
- Dimensions and Tolerances Dimensions and tolerances are specified either by indicating the required tolerance class following the dimension shown, or by specifying the allowable deviations using the symbols + and/or −.
- Determining Tolerance Classes Tolerance classes are determined based on the fit requirements (clearance, interference).
